Of particular interest at this time is the idea of where we are right now. What is the nature of transference since the Pandemic arrived and during this political climate? What is the experience of time, shame and demagoguery for patient and practitioner? How has our practice been forced to change for better and for worse? What are the new dimensions of isolation and how are we navigating them?

We are also of course open to and excited for new ideas of possible articles, reviews, case studies and more. We’d very much like to start a dialogue with our community near and far about what is needed right now in scholarly journalism in our field. Thank you for your continued connection to us.

    Wishing you the best,

    William J. Hurst

    Patient Anonymization

Publication of clinical material by psychoanalysts and psychotherapists is essential to the development of knowledge in psychoanalysis and the broader mental health field, and the growth and maintenance of high standards of patient care. Patient privacy should be protected so that patients can speak and act freely with full confidenceEthical and legal considerations require the protection of patients’ anonymity in case reports and elsewhere.

Authors whose papers include accounts of clinical work are required to take all necessary measures to ensure that none of the individuals written about can be identified by any third party and to fully minimize the likelihood that any patient(s) will recognize him/her/themself. To meet these objectives, Modern Psychoanalysis has adopted guidelines to be followed by all authors, which are required in the online submission and throughout the review process. These guidelines align with the prevailing standards of our professions. Special care should be taken in cases involving children or adolescents. There will be no exceptions.

    Submitting Your Anonymized Article

Authors must verify that they have anonymized any individual identity, and indicate which methods of anonymization were employed, using the form HERE.
This form is to be included in the author’s submission to Modern Psychoanalysis.
