    The Consultation and Referral Service is the clinical division of the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies.  We offer affordable short- and long-term therapy for a wide range of life challenges including relationships, job stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, serious illness, and life transitions.  We are an inclusive clinical setting where people of all life circumstances are welcome.

    About The Consultation & Referral Service

    The goal of the Consultation and Referral Service is to provide affordable, high quality, psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy. This non-profit, community based organization provides short- and long-term therapeutic services to adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families.


    History
    The Consultation & Referral Service has been providing an invaluable service to the community for more than 40 years. It was established in 1972 at as an integral part of CMPS's psychoanalytic training program. Since that time, thousands of patients from a broad range of backgrounds and with a wide range of concerns have come to understand how talking in a therapeutic relationship can free them from negative patterns of behavior.

    Making an Appointment:

    Call (212) 228-6036 to schedule an intake consultation.

    Currently, there is no waiting list. Typically clients are scheduled for appointments within 5-10 business days of applying. The cost for the intake process is $40, due at the time of the first appointment.

    Hours:

    Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
    Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    Fees

    Intake Fee
    There is a $40 fee for the initial consultation.

    Session Fees
    The fee for therapy is mutually agreed upon between the therapist and the client. Our fees are flexible, and we work with clients to set an affordable fee. This practice ensures that therapy is confidential, and the frequency and duration are determined solely by the client and therapist.
