Library
The CMPS/NYGSP library contains over 3,000 English-language books in psychoanalysis, psychology, and related fields, with the core being a rich collection of works, both new and classic, in the field of modern psychoanalysis. The book collection is searchable through our online catalog, accessible through the link on this page. Through print and online sources, students also have access to over 40 full-text psychoanalytic journals, as well as subject-specific reference works.
The library’s large reading rooms provide quiet study space, four computers with printing capabilities, a wireless network, and two copiers for student use. Research assistance is given by the librarian, who also manages access to class readings. As a member of the Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO), the library has referral privileges to local libraries and offers interlibrary loan service for material not in our collection.
The library is open to CMPS and NYGSP students, faculty, and alumni. Other individuals can visit the library, by appointment, through the METRO referral card system, in which we participate as a METRO member. METRO referral cards can be obtained at New York Public Library locations (see http://www.nypl.org/help/research-services/metro for more information), as well as at many academic and institutional libraries in the New York City area. METRO card visitors should call in advance, both to ensure admittance and to confirm our library holds the needed materials. Appointments are available during hours when the librarian is present: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Thursday, 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
The librarian, Laura Covino, can be reached at librarian@cmps.edu, or at 212-260-7050, x15.
